ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how individuals regulate attention, energy, and impulses. But ADHD is more than a diagnostic label, it's a different way of experiencing the world.
People with ADHD are often creative, quick-thinking, emotionally intuitive, and full of ideas. At the same time, they may struggle with focus, forgetfulness, time management, or restlessness... not due to a lack of effort, but because their brain processes information and stimulation differently.
We take a neuroaffirming approach to ADHD, recognising it as a valid and valuable brain type, not a flaw to be "fixed." Assessment is not about finding what’s wrong. It’s about gaining insight into how your brain works, identifying both challenges and strengths, and making informed decisions about support, strategies, and self-understanding.
You or your child might benefit from an ADHD assessment if you're noticing:
ADHD Assessments are available for school-age children through to adulthood (ages 6+)
At Strive Hive, ADHD assessments may involve:
- Parent Interviews and Developmental History
- Cognitive Assessment
- Comprehensive Behavioural Assessment (parent, teacher and/or self-report questionnaires)
- Comprehensive Psychological Report
During the initial interview with your practitioner, the appropriateness of a comprehensive assessment can be discussed and a suitable assessment package recommended. Rates for assessments will be confirmed by administration once the lead practitioner has determined specific inclusions.
