Stress is a natural response to the demands of everyday life, but when it becomes constant or overwhelming, it can have a significant impact on physical and emotional wellbeing. Burnout is a state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion that often results from prolonged stress, commonly linked to work, caregiving, or managing multiple responsibilities without adequate support. For neurodivergent individuals, such as those with autism or ADHD, burnout can occur more frequently and may result from the ongoing effort to mask or navigate environments that aren't designed with neurodiversity in mind. This is known as neurodivergent burnout and may include increased fatigue, sensory overload, shutdowns, and a loss of functioning. At our practice, we support people of all neurotypes to identify signs of burnout, explore underlying factors, and build sustainable strategies to reduce stress, restore energy, and reconnect with their strengths.
